Creamy Roux

A smooth, flavorful roux that’s dairy free, gluten free, and completely Alpha-Gal safe—perfect for creamy dishes. This is a great replacement for any “cream of ____ soup.”

Ingredients
  

  • 6 tbsp Plant based butter
  • 6 tbsp gluten free flour (1 to 1)
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup dairy free milk

Equipment

  • 1 medium size pot
  • 1 whisk

Method
 

  1. On the stovetop, melt your butter in the medium pot.
  2. Once melted, whisk in your flour and stir for about 1 minute.
  3. Add a bit of salt and pepper, to taste.
  4. Once mixed well, add in your milk and broth slowly as you continue whisking. Do not stop stirring.
  5. Continue stirring for 3 to 4 minutes on medium/low heat until the mixture thickens to a pudding like consistency.
  6. Remove from heat and use in any recipe that calls for “cream of soup.”
