Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 30 minutes
Course: Main Course, Soup

Ingredients

  • 1 to 2 lbs Ground turkey, browned (or other ground meat)
  • 4 cans Beans (great northern, pinto, kidney, etc.) (I like to mix it up)
  • 1 to 2 28 oz cans Tomatoes ( I use crushed, ,peeled)
  • 6 tbsp Homemade Chili Seasoning Mix (see separate recipe)

Equipment

  • 1 Instant Pot, Slow Cooker or Large Pot
  • 1 Spoon, large
  • Can Opener
  • measuring spoons

Method

Instant Pot Method
  1. In a sauté pan on the stove top or using the Instant Pot sauté function, brown your ground meat - adding 4 tbsp of chili seasoning mixture while cooking.
  2. Once meat is browned, add all ingredients to the Instant Pot - tomatoes, beans, meat and additional 2 tbsp of seasoning. Stir until combined.
  3. Lock the Instant Pot lid in place and turn to “seal”. Press the Chili button (or choose HIGH pressure for 30 minutes). Instant Pot will start automatically (other pressure cookers may need to press START).
  4. When the 30 minutes are up you will need to do a quick release by moving the seal to “venting” to release the pressure. If you leave it sitting the chili will likely burn to the bottom.
  5. Stir and serve, will be hot! Top with dairy free cheese and sour cream! This chili pairs well with Fritos, Tostitos or gluten free, alpha gal safe corn bread.
Slow Cooker Method
  1. In a sauté pan on the stove top, brown your ground meat - adding 4 tbsp of chili seasoning mixture while cooking.
  2. Once meat is browned, add all ingredients to the slow cooker- tomatoes, beans, meat and additional 2 tbsp of seasoning. Stir until combined.
  3. Set slow cooker to LOW for 6 to 8 hours or HIGH for 4 hours.
  4. Stir and serve, will be hot! Top with dairy free cheese and sour cream! This chili pairs well with Fritos, Tostitos or gluten free, alpha gal safe corn bread.
Stove Top Method
  1. Brown your ground meat - adding 4 tbsp of chili seasoning mixture while cooking.
  2. Once meat is browned, add all ingredients to the pot- tomatoes, beans, meat and additional 2 tbsp of seasoning. Stir until combined.
  3. Bring to a low boil and let simmer, slightly covered, for 30 minutes. Stir this frequently so it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan and make sure the simmer is LOW.
  4. Stir and serve, will be hot! Top with dairy free cheese and sour cream! This chili pairs well with Fritos, Tostitos or gluten free, alpha gal safe corn bread.
