One of the many things I missed was cheese! Daiya Dairy Free Cheese has been the best replacement I’ve found for cooking.
I have yet to find any cheese that tastes good just to eat straight out of the package. This is due to the texture more so than the flavor.
I do, however, eat it straight out of the oven a top garlic and butter toast. It’s a fantastic choice for any type of cooking. Check out some of the things I use this cheese for below…
Just a quick list of some of the many uses for this dairy free cheese! It makes life somewhat normal? Ha, nobody in my house will eat it with me. After not having cheese for 11 years though it’s pretty great. Makes me feel normal – I can eat garlic cheese toast while my family eats theirs. I can enjoy some sausage balls on Christmas morning just like the rest of them.
- Sausage Balls (Gluten free Bisquick mix and chicken sausage)
- Garlic & Cheese toast (paired with spaghetti)
- Soups (garnish)
- Mac N’ Cheese
- Chili (garnish)
- Tacos (garnish)
Normalcy is a distant thing for us, and anything that can give us a tiny bit of normalcy is worth it. Even if it is something as simple as cheese. Daiya Dairy Free Cheese does this for me.
Does anybody else feel like food has become a form of anxiety for them? I’ll talk about this more in my next post but talking about normalcy just reminds me how much stress I carry around with me everyday about what I’m going to eat. More to come on that topic. I’d love your thoughts.
Also, more recipes to come using this cheese and other replacements!
