Why miss out???!! We have so many more options these days for safe treats. Treat yourself today but don’t overdo it and make yourself sick!
These are tried and true brands that have decided, we too, need to experience the deliciousness that everyone else does. When first diagnosed I just said “NO” to all the candy because you truly have no idea what’s in it unless you have the ingredient list in front of you.
– Chocolate candy, nope, it has milk in it.
– Gummy candy, nope, it has gelatin in it.
– Candy that’s just straight sugar, nope, any granulated sugar is run through bone char and it will make us sick.
The list goes on and as your kids come back with arm loads of candy and dump it all out on the floor all you want to do is collect your “candy tax.” Am I right? But alas, you cannot because all you see are things full of milk chocolate, gummy bears, sour patch kids, crunch bars, Reese’s cups, taffy, etc. Of course, nobody is going to throw vegan or plant based candies in your kids Halloween bucket. You can definitely go out and buy some to enjoy along with your kids tonight after they “Trick or Treat” though.
Treats

Opened and ate these before I even got the picture taken! These are delicious. Are they different? Sure, a bit. The only difference I can tell is that the chocolate is a little bit more brittle than the soft milk chocolate of the regular ones.
Stores that I know sell them: Target, Amazon, Publix, Walmart, Kroger
Cookies? Not candy? You can do a lot with Oreos to make them yummy, in addition to just eating them straight from the container. Some other options: you can dip them in vegan white chocolate, you can crush them up and use them as the crust of your vegan peanut butter pie, you can crush them up and add them to your vanilla dairy free yogurt, etc.

Melt these and dip your Oreos or gluten free pretzels or any other fun snack.
Another wonderful option from the makers of Hershey’s. They don’t want us left out so they made us a sweet treat option.

Swedish Fish surprisingly are vegan and free of gluten, dairy and mammal. If you buy off brand always check the labels.
These are just a few options that I personally know are safe for those with Alpha-Gal. There are a ton more options in the cookie category. I’ll be posting some recipes for some cookies and sweet treats that are safe if you’re interested in baking something!
I am confident that there are a ton more candy options out there, check it out and let me know what you find. Just always be sure to check the labels and unless it specifically states it is vegan it’s possible that the sugar is bleached with bone char. I always fare on the safe side, if it doesn’t say vegan I don’t ingest it.
