Southern Goodness
Original to South Carolina, the Low Country Boil has been a favorite for southern families since the 1960’s. The simplicity of the recipe makes it easy enough to prepare for a large crowd. If you have ever visited the coast of South Carolina, you have perhaps heard of the Gullah-Geechee people. Visiting Daufuskie Island and experiencing the Gullah culture is a recommended adventure. There’s a rich culinary experience that comes from the Gullah-Geeechee heritage. Low Country Boil is just one of the amazingly delicious recipes that originated from the islands of the Carolina’s.
Most of the ingredients in this recipe are naturally Alpha-gal safe but just a tweak of a few of them makes this a delicious go to recipe for a large family or large crowd.

Simple ingredients

The make up of this recipe is the simplest of ingredients.
*Fresh Shrimp – Jumbo sized – Be sure not to over cook this as it will be chewy and tough. As soon as these turn pink they are done which is why we add them as the last ingredient.
*Red Potatoes – the size of these are perfect for this specific type of boil as they become tender as you finish adding other ingredients.
*Turkey Sausage – as mentioned in previous blogs this smoked sausage is so versatile and makes a great addition to this recipe to complete the meal.
*Corn on the cob – I love corn from a Low Country Boil because it absorbs the seasoning so well and just has an amazing flavor combined with that of the other ingredients.
